Concluded: Workshop on the use of RTI in Journalism in Bangladesh


Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI), New Delhi in partnership with The Hunger Project (THP), Bangladesh organised a day long workshop on RTI with journalists from Bangladesh. The workshop was held on 31st August 2018 in Dhaka and was attended by around 17 journalists representing different media houses in Bangladesh. Former Information Commissioner of the Bangladesh Information Commission Mr. Golam Rahman and Dr.   Mohammad Abdul Hakim, Director, Bangladesh Information spoke during the event. Mr. Biplab Karmakar, RTI activist from Comilla, Bangladesh lead one of the sessions in the event. Mr. Kumar Sambhav Srivastava, Journalist, Business Standard also shared his experience of using RTI for investigative reporting while Mr. Sanjoy Hazarika, Director, CHRI spoke on the linkages between right to Information, freedom of expression and investigative journalism.  The participants were encouraged to file RTIs after attending the workshop. CHRI’s Access to Information team and the resource persons from India participated in and facilitated the event via Skype.
