Human rights forum criticises Gujarat Police over dalit flogging


A human rights forum has rapped the Gujarat Police and the administration for their alleged sluggish response to the brutal beating of Dalit youths for skinning a dead cow at Gir Somnath. 

A note prepared by the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative and the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights quoted independent fact-finding reports to claim the police "did not" intervene despite coming across the Dalit men being beaten by cow vigilantes.  Read More
