New Delhi: A study conducted by the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) has established that theft is the most commonly experienced crime in the capital, with mobile phones being the most purloined product. But car theft too is a serious problem in the capital, accounting for 10% of all thefts, compared with just 1% in Mumbai.
Of the seven crimes assessed by CHRI, theft was by far most the most frequent experience for people. In Delhi, 10.14% of all households were victims of theft, as were 12.36% of Mumbai households. A notable proportion of households were victims of theft multiple times - 100 households in Delhi and 106 in Mumbai. Full Article
