Dear All,

I have received tragic news just a few minutes ago about the alleged murder of an RTI activist and whistleblower in Lakhisarai, Bihar. Shri Ram Vilas Singh was alleged to have been shot at by unidentified assailants 9am today at a place called Bavangavan village. He is said to have filed several RTI applications to unearth corruption and misuse in the spending of development funds in Amhara gram panchayat. He is said to have unearthed corruption in the construction of check dams, appointment of Anganwadi workers and also hoarding and blackmarketing of commodities. I am told some of these cases are pending before the State Lokayukta.

I received this information through Shri Rajkishore Madhukar who may be contacted at: +91-9430438471. He is finding out if an FIR has been filed in the matter. I request the mediapersons receiving this story to cover it. Others based in Bihar who can help with the filing of FIR and pursuit of the case may please get in touch with Rajkishore.

Thanks
Sincerely,
Venkatesh Nayak
