JAIL MAIL- LEGAL SERVICES DAY- LOOKING BACK AT AN EVENTFUL YEAR 2018

9th November 2018 marks the 24th Legal Services Day.  As is customary, we bring to you updates on the latest developments in legal aid in India. In the past year, NALSA has introduced a slew of changes in the administration of legal aid which we believe can go a long way in not only improving access but also quality of legal aid services in the country. The highlight of this year has been increased emphasis by NALSA to monitor services delivered by legal services institutions.

This year, NALSA also held several regional meetings for the north, south, east and north-eastern states. The focus of these meetings were issues related to legal aid, under the following themes: Evaluation and review of the work Performance of SLSAs on legal aid; National Lok Adalats and the implementation of NALSA schemes; and the identification of areas for expansion of SLSA activities under the NALSA Schemes.
