Ten things you should know about Indian Prisons is an annual publication of CHRI since 2015, that highlights trends and major findings from the National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) annual statistical report - Prison Statistics India. 

This analysis is based on the latest Prison Statistics India 2019. The 10 indicators analysed are -  prison population and occupancy, proportion of undertrial prisoners, period of confinement of undertrial prisoners, women and prisons - inmates & staff, education, caste and religion profile of prisoners, prison staff, prison population offence wise, prison inspections, expenditure on prisoners and deaths in prisons
