World Refugee Day 2020 - Every Action Counts
This 20th June - on World Refugee Day - CHRI through its Jail Mail seeks to reiterate that everyone, including refugees, can contribute to the society and every action counts in the effort to create a more just, inclusive and equal world. World Refugee Day is commemorated to recognise the resilience and courage of persons fleeing violence to save themselves and their families and to show support to refugees and asylum seekers. All persons in detention, including refugees and asylum seekers are extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 given the overcrowded spaces and inadequate healthcare facilities. CHRI through this Jail Mail requests all persons to stand in solidarity with these communities and take efforts to ensure their rights are protected.
