Legal awareness material: NALSA SOP on Representation of Persons in Custody

This poster provides a precise of the NALSA SOP on Representation of Persons in Custody 2016, and lists the responsibilities of each stakeholder. These posters are meant for circulation to paralegal volunteers, legal aid lawyers, prison officers and legal aid authorities who are linked to prison legal aid clinics. These are available in English, Hindi and Bengali.

Legal awareness material: Visitor's Guide on Mulaqat

The poster is based on the prison rules and the interviews of some prison staff of Jodhpur with the purpose of explaining the entire process of mulaqat. It was developed to use across the prisons in Rajasthan irrespective of the variation in family visiting days and hours. The poster are also available in English and Hindi.

This is a second watch report on the functioning of Board of Visitors (BOV) and Non Official Visitors (NOV) in Indian prisons as on 1 June 2018. The report has been prepared on the basis of RTI responses where information was received from 491 prisons of 29 states and union territories.

Urgent Action Desk

In response to suggestions received from the participants of the Roundtable Consultation with Key Stakeholders on Strangers to Justice. CHRI has established an Urgent Action Desk, in order to facilitate consular access, contact with family, legal representation, repatriation and transfer of prisoners under the Repatriation of Prisoners Act 2003.
