The following submission provides comments and recommendations by the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) on the Draft National Policy for Women 2016. CHRI is an independent, non-governmental organisation working towards the practical realisation of human rights across the Commonwealth.
CHRI Recommendations on NALSA (Free And Competent Legal Services) Regulations,2010
Legal services institutions are mandated to constitute a panel of legal aid lawyers. As per Regulation 8(5), they may maintain separate panels dealing with different types of cases.
CHRI’S QUESTIONNAIRE ON IMPROVING LEGAL AID
This questionnaire is divided into three parts. The first part poses questions on access to legal aid at the police station, the second on the existing legal aid framework and the third on the modalities of a public defender model.
