The General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha and the Vidhan Sabhas of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim were held between April and June 2024. How much money did the political parties collectively spend on the election campaign is not publicly known. CHRI has completed a study of the analysis of the campaign expenditure trends of 22 national and state level political parties. Data for the study has been sourced from their expenditure reports uploaded on the website of the Election Commission of India. The findings from our study are very revelatory about the urgent need for reforming campaign financing.
