With support from Open Society for West Africa (OSIWA) CHRI coordinated the implementation of series of activities aimed at intensifying pressure on Parliament to amend Ghana’s RTI Bill in line with the Coalition’s recommendations before it is passed into law.
Promoting Passage of Effective RTI Law
This project, sponsored by STAR Ghana was targeted at enhancing citizen’s knowledge and understanding, particularly those at the grassroots, on their right to information and mobilising the citizenry support for the passage of a progressive RTI law in Ghana.
Gender Dimension of ATI
UNESCO supported this pilot project which aimed at identifying the challenges that confront women in their attempt to access information from public institutions and to encourage women groups to be involved in the campaign for the passage of the RTI Bill into law.
Promoting ATI in Ghana and Commonwealth Africa

CHRI’s Accra Office has been working to promote knowledge about the value of Access to information. In Ghana, the right to receive information is guaranteed by its 1992 Constitution.
Sensitisation Workshops and “Proactive Disclosure: A Case Study”
As part of our advocacy on the right to information, CHRI conducts workshops, consultations and seminars for better implementation of the RTI Act across India.
Comparative Law Research
CHRI regularly monitors developments across Commonwealth member States for news of RTI law drafting processes. Given its reputation CHRI is often approached by both Governments and civil society organisations for assistance with the process of writing up the provisions of their RTI legislation.
